In late 1994, I was asked to design an alter for the planned church. It
was my wish to find a symbol that could be understood world-wide and by
all confessions as a common value. For me that is the earth which
encompasses both the globe and the soil.
There are different worldviews but only one earth which in its diversity
and in conjunction with special places always proved fascinating to all
people:
Henry the Lion brought back earth from a journey to Jerusalem and had it
immured into he altar of the Cathedral in Brunswick.
